LGBTQ+ ELOPEMENTS
ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR COUPLES WHO WANT THE DAY TO FEEL LIKE THEIRS
THIS IS YOURS
You do not have to become easier to understand before your wedding can feel like yours.
Being loved and feeling safe enough to let that love be visible are not always the same thing. You may know what it is like to read a room before you reach for each other. Or you may simply be tired of weddings built around somebody else’s assumptions.
Your elopement does not have to solve any of that. It can simply give you a day that belongs to you. No performance. No translation. No version of your relationship made more convenient for anyone else.
TERENCE + KEVIN, COPENHAGEN

Some photographs record what happened. Others make you understand what being seen can mean.
Terence and Kevin had been together for nearly seven years when they came to Copenhagen to get married. At home in Hong Kong, they could not. When we met before sunrise, the first photographs were careful. Their closeness was real, but held close to the body. Nothing about it was made for an audience.
In a quiet courtyard, I photographed what I believe was their first kiss in public. The next morning at city hall, they both cried and thanked the registrar more than once. I still come back to that gratitude. Not because their love needed permission, but because being recognised had carried so much weight.
They did not need me to make their love visible. They trusted me to witness it.
NOTHING SPECTACULARSTORIES, NOT PROOF
Different people. Different places. Nothing to fit into.
There is no single way a queer elopement should look. These stories are not templates. They are what happened when each day was allowed to take its shape from the people inside it.
LGBTQ+ ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY
An LGBTQ+ elopement photographer based in Hamburg, working across Europe.
I photograph LGBTQ+ elopements across Europe for couples who want their wedding day to feel private, personal and unmistakably theirs. That might mean getting married alone in Copenhagen, bringing two close friends to the ceremony or spending two days somewhere that gives you enough room to forget about the camera.
My photography moves between candid moments and deliberately made portraits. I document what happens without turning the day into a performance, then step in when light, movement or a slightly strange idea can make a photograph feel more like you. It is not purely documentary wedding photography. The portraits matter, sometimes enough to give them hours of their own, but they remain part of the experience rather than a performance laid over it.
If you are looking for an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer, this distinction matters: elopements are the wedding work I actively want to photograph. Small, intimate and centred on the couple rather than an audience.

WHAT YOU DO NOT OWE THE DAY
You are allowed to make this smaller, quieter and more yours.
NO PERFORMANCE
You do not have to look romantic on command, explain your dynamic or turn affection into something legible for the camera.
I will pay attention. You can stay with each other.
NO REQUIRED AUDIENCE
Bring nobody. Bring two people. Bring the few who make the day feel safer and more honest. A guest list is not what gives a wedding meaning.
The room only needs the people who belong in it.
NO CORRECT VERSION
You can be quiet, loud, nervous, ridiculous, certain or still working parts of it out. I am not looking for a polished queer love story.
I am interested in the one that is actually yours.
THE PERSON IN THE ROOM

I will not ask you to make your relationship easier for me to read.
I am Bjørn. Hafenliebe is queer-affirming, feminist and anti-fascist because I am. That is not a campaign line. It shapes how I meet people and what I will not quietly accept in the room.
I know the camera can make people self-conscious. I will give direction when it helps and disappear a little when it does not. You should not have to explain why a moment matters before I take it seriously. You will not have to perform intimacy for me or keep checking whether I was paying attention.
Hafenliebe is not a world you have to fit into. It is what appears when you stop trying to fit anywhere else.
"Bjørn creates a safe space of sharing and being. Being with him felt like hanging out with a good friend: no trouble showing the most vulnerable parts of yourself. Noah felt completely seen and comfortable being themselves."

TELL ME WHAT IS YOURS
You do not need a finished plan. Start with the part you keep coming back to.
Tell me who you are, where you feel most like yourselves and what you want this day to protect. The unpolished version is usually the useful one.
