- HOW IT WORKS
How it works
Sessions run 2 to 3 hours. We start somewhere familiar, your home, a neighborhood, a place that feels like yours.
The first twenty minutes are for calibration. For most people, the camera is a foreign object. I know that. I don't try to make you forget it's there. I just give you something else to pay attention to. Movement. A direction. A conversation that matters to you.
The photographs from that point forward are the ones you'll actually want.
THE APPROACH
Some of it is built, exact, sometimes down to the millimeter. Where you stand, where the light falls, what you're holding in your head in that second. Then I keep shooting after you've stopped tracking my instructions and gone back to being you.
That's when the photograph happens.
What comes out the other side isn't a flattering version of you. It's a true one. Strength. Vulnerability. Whatever it is you carry. Presence.
I've been photographing people for fourteen years. I've learned that the technical part, the light, the lens, the location, matters less than most photographers will tell you. What matters is what happens between you and me in the room. The willingness to actually be seen. I can't create that alone. But I can create the conditions for it.
